On Monday, the Los Angeles D-Fenders defeated the Springfield Armor 134-128, allowing them to clinch their 20th win of the season.
In the first quarter, the D-Fenders allowed a close game to run away from them early on as Springfield went on a 14-3 run in the quarter’s final two minutes. Springfield went into the second quarter with a 10 point lead, but Los Angeles turned the game around, shooting 54.5 percent from the floor. The D-Fenders scored a season-high of 38 points in the second, solidifying a six point lead above the Armor going into the half.
The lead changed once again in the third quarter with Springfield up by 11, but the D-Fenders responded with a 21-6 run in the game’s last five minutes. Despite Springfield’s final fight in regaining a one-point lead with three minutes remaining, Los Angeles proved triumphant. This win would solidify their first place spot in the Western Division.
Manny Harris was the leading scorer for the D-Fenders with 30 points. Travis Hyman sported a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Contributors also included Terrence Williams with 23 points, Brandon Costner with 22 points and six rebounds, and Shawne Williams with 17 points.
The Springfield Armor is also the new home for former Laker and former D-Fender Devin Ebanks. Ebanks scored 19 points against his old team, but this would not be enough to give the Armor the win.
The D-Fender’s next game will be against the Dallas Mavericks’ affiliate team, the Texas Legends on Thursday.
