Andrew Bynum Named Western Conference Player of the Week

Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum has been named the Western Conference Player of the Week for games played Monday, March 12, through Sunday, March 18.

In the past week, Bynum helped the Lakers to a 3-1 record with key wins over the Grizzlies and the potent Timberwolves. Bynum also led the conference in rebounding with 14.8 a game and was second in the West with 27.5 ppg.

Bynum recorded a double-double in each of the four games highlighted by a 37 point and 16 rebound game over the Wolves. Although Kobe Bryant is the main star on the Lakers’ team, Bynum was an integral part of the team’s offense and was often given the ball in late-game situations.

Coming into the season Bynum was establishing himself as a reliable center; however, he is now making a case as the best center in the league.
