Andrew Bynum Plans to Play Wednesday Against Timberwolves

After being selected as a starter for the Western Conference in the 2012 NBA All-Star game, Lakers center Andrew Bynum was ecstatic with a feeling of great accomplishment. Being an All-Star has been a goal for Bynum as he wanted to prove that he was amongst the best big men in the league, but unfortunately the up-and-comer failed to log more than five and half minutes for the West on Sunday night in Orlando.

The lack of playing time for the Western Conference All-Stars was not something that Andrew Bynum wanted since being dubbed an NBA All-Star for the first time. As arguably the league’s second-best center behind Dwight Howard, Bynum wanted to make his presence known on the biggest stage against his toughest competition in the three-time Defensive Player of the Year.

With Andrew Bynum recovering from a Synvisc knee injection just days before the All-Star game, the up-and-coming center could only play limited minutes if any at all. This injection something that the Lakers center needs every six months which is supposed to lubricate his knee and give him some pain relief in the process.

According to John Cherwa of the L.A. Times, Andrew Bynum has said that he plans to play on Wednesday against the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Staples Center. Bynum commented on his recent knee injection after undergoing the procedure on Saturday:

“It was planned,” Bynum said afterward. “It was just the way we had to do it for this to work. I’m getting the first plane out of here tonight and we have Monday off.”

Hopefully, this knee injection will help Andrew Bynum get back to form as he will need to be on his game on Wednesday against the two-headed monster of Kevin Love and Nikola Pekovic in the paint.
