Andrew Bynum to Play Thursday Night Against Spurs

According to sources close to Andrew Bynum and the Lakers the young center will play tonight against the top team in the Western Conference, the San Antonio Spurs.

Bynum, who missed 24 games at the beginning of the season, missed the Lakers overtime win over the Houston Rockets on Tuesday with a bruised bone in his right knee.

A report in the Sporting News this morning claims that Bynum’s knee is feeling much better, and that the swelling from the bone bruise has gone down.

This is good news for the Lakers, who will need Bynum’s size to help match up against the physical frontline of the Spurs.

Originally head coach Phil Jackson had stated that he thought the injury might keep Bynum out for multiple games, but the reduced swelling has Bynum feeling comfortable enough to give it a shot tonight against San Antonio.
