Andrew Bynum’s Agent David Lee: Teams Should Talk to Bynum Before Trade

The Dwight Howard saga took another interesting and equally frustrating turn on Thursday night when talks of the superstar center wanting to sign an extension with the Los Angeles Lakers turned out to be false.

After learning the news of another twist to landing Howard long-term, Lakers fans were shaking their heads with disbelief once again with this blockbuster trade seemingly never being able to come to fruition.

Along with the most recent Howard trade news, Andrew Bynum also created a bit of buzz around the league with the All-Star center’s agent, David Lee, claiming that no team has asked for permission to talk to Bynum according to Ramona Shelburne of ESPNLosAngeles.com:

“I can’t imagine any team foolish enough to do the deal without asking permission to speak to Andrew,” Bynum’s agent David Lee told ESPNLosAngeles.com on Thursday. “That’s beyond belief, but strange things happen.”

Lee is right on the money with his statement about the potential blockbuster trade that would send Bynum to the Cleveland Cavaliers, as it would be prudent to have a discussion with the star center before signing off on the deal. Reaching out to Bynum would definitely make the process that much more fluid with the Cavs or Houston Rockets getting a good idea of where they stand with the two-time NBA champion in terms of a long-term extension.

As of right now, Lee claims that no team has asked the Lakers for permission to have a discussion with Bynum about a potential trade. Reports of a Bynum’s wish list of teams and desire to sign a long-term deal with the Cavs have since been refuted.

The constant twists and turns in the Lakers’ attempts to acquire Howard appear to be endless. There’s no telling what to believe at this point with the only certainty being that the Lakers want Howard and he wants out of Orlando.

At this point in time, the supposed trade talks between the Orlando Magic, Cavs and Lakers are ongoing. No trade is imminent as all three teams continue to try and find some middle ground in which a deal can ultimately get done.
