Bryant Helps Fund Chinese Culture Initiative Program

Kobe Bryant was in attendance at Bell Gardens Intermediate School in Bell Gardens, Calif., on Monday January 31, to promote the Chinese culture initiative program, After School All-Stars.

Bryant’s foundation aids in funding the program, which includes Mandarin language lessons, Chinese cooking courses and martial arts lessons.

According to program spokeswoman Shannon Mayock, about 150 students at five schools participate in the initiative.

Bryant’s popularity in China has been rising steadily over the past few years, as his jersey is the NBA’s top-seller in China and his reality show, “Kobe’s Disciples,” generated millions of Chinese viewers.
