Byron Scott Believes He Must Change The Lakers’ Mindset

The Los Angeles Lakers went through their worst season in the history of the franchise last year. Now the franchise is ready to turn things around.

But with a number of players returning from last season’s team, Byron Scott understands that he needs to change the mindset of this team according to our own Serena Winters:

Having Kobe Bryant on the team will help with that change without a doubt. If there is one thing that Kobe and Byron agree on, it is that losing is unacceptable.

Scott doesn’t plan to wait long to implement this thinking. Things will change the moment the team comes together for training camp according to Winters:

Changing the mindset of a team is very difficult to do, but the Lakers will never be able to get back to championship contention if they don’t do so. Players like Jordan Hill, Nick Young, Ed Davis, and Xavier Henry have either never made a major playoff run, or never played in the playoffs at all.

These players could very well be some of the key pieces of the Lakers’ future, and it eventually it will be on them to teach the younger players what it means to be a Laker. But for now, it is Byron and Kobe who hold the torch. And they have quite a task in front of them to turn these young players into major contributors.
