After playing a season-high 36 minutes in Sunday night’s victory against the Detroit Pistons, Kobe Bryant did not travel with the Los Angeles Lakers for the team’s game on Monday against the Phoenix Suns. Following the near triple-double, Kobe admitted to his body being very sore after the win.

Following a back-to-back set, the Lakers returned to practice on Wednesday. Instead of practicing, Kobe received treatment for his back and shoulder that has kept him out for three games in the early part of the new season.

According to LakersNation.com reporter Serena Winters, head coach Byron Scott expects Kobe to play on Friday when the Lakers host the Toronto Raptors:

Kobe will have had four days off in between games, so if he is unable to go on Friday, it would be a serious cause for concern. The Lakers are intent on making sure Kobe gets through the season healthy and aren’t opposed to resting him for certain games. However, if Kobe is struggling to suit up after four days of rest, the questions and concerns about him will grow louder.

So far, Kobe has struggled this season, especially with his efficiency. He is averaging just under 17 points per game, but is shooting under 34 percent from the field. His most recent outing was his best, however, as he nearly posted a triple-double against the Pistons with eight rebounds and nine assists to go along with 17 points.
