Byron Scott: Kobe Bryant’s Message ‘A Wake Up Call’ For Lakers

It seems as though Kobe Bryant is officially tired of losing in his 20th and final season in the NBA. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar’s frustration hit a boiling point recently with Bryant calling out his teammates following the loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.

After Lakers practice on Monday, head coach Byron Scott addressed the media and talked about Kobe’s message to the team after the loss to the Blazers. Scott believes the message was received and the team appears to be responding the right way via Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters:

Second-year guard Jordan Clarkson also talked about Bryant’s message on Monday. Clarkson stressed Kobe’s main point was bringing it every night on the basketball floor, via Winters:

The Lakers currently have the worst record in the Western Conference with the storied franchise having yet to crack double digits in the win column. Los Angeles has only nine wins to their credit at this point in the season with no signs of the team turning things around anytime soon.

The team’s schedule won’t get any easier this week with Los Angeles hosting the Dallas Mavericks (25-21) on Tuesday night at the Staples Center followed by the Chicago Bulls (25-18) on Thursday. Bryant and company will then be the visiting team at Staples Center on Friday against the division rival, Los Angeles Clippers (28-16).
