With all the trade rumors surrounding Pau Gasol recently it’s no surprise that some of them may not be as credible as others. After a report surfaced last week that reigning league MVP Derrick Rose was interested in bringing Gasol to the Chicago Bulls, it now seems that those reports were premature.
Rose denied reports that he wanted the Bulls to trade Carlos Boozer for Gasol during an interview with ESPN Chicago, stating that he’s happy with the team he currently has.
“I heard about it after (Monday’s) game,” Rose said. “That’s something I wouldn’t say to anyone, that I need someone to come to this team or I’m trying to get rid of someone on this team. It was all false and that’s something I would never do.”
This is probably good news for the Lakers, as well, as it doesn’t seem like a very good deal for them, especially after Gasol’s 24 points on 11-of-18 shooting, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals on Wednesday night against the Dallas Mavericks.

Whether or not the team decides to trade Gasol is still up in the air, but it seems there’s one less suitor for the 7-foot Spaniard than we thought there was.
