Coach K Says Kobe Was ‘Put On This Earth’ To Win Titles

Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant may only have two years left in his career in NBA. Kobe signed a two-year, $48.5 million contract extension back in November of last year securing his future with the Los Angeles Lakers.

All indications point to Kobe calling it a career after his 20th season in the league, but there’s no guarantee he’ll be able to compete for a sixth NBA title in Los Angeles.

Recently, Duke University and Team USA head coach Mike Krzyzewski made an spoke with CBS’ Jim Rome. Coach K was asked about Kobe with the longtime Blue Devils coach saying that five-time NBA champion “was put on this earth” to win championships.

With the Lakers unable to bring in superstars Carmelo Anthony or LeBron James in free agency this summer, the storied franchise will have a tough road ahead. Kobe’s chances to win a sixth title in Los Angeles before he calls it a career potentially took a serious hit due to a subpar off-season moves.

Even though the team was unable to land another big-name player and lost Pau Gasol to the Chicago Bulls, it is hard to count out a team with Kobe leading the way. The perennial All-Star will likely be battling for a playoff spot for the rest of his career, but anything is possible with the team’s track record of acquiring players that can immediate turn things around in Los Angeles.
