D-Fenders News: D-Fenders Acquire Forward Terrence Williams

After spending the early part of the season with Turk Telekom of the Turkish League, the Los Angeles D-Fenders have acquired Terrence Williams through waivers. The former 2009 NBA lottery pick has appeared in 153 games for four different teams where he averaged 7.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.4 assists.

This will be his second NBA D-League stint after playing for the Springfield Armor during the 2010-2011 season. In three appearances, Williams averaged 28.0 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 10.7 assists. While there were rumors that Williams was headed back to Springfield, he now joins the D-Fenders who are led by Manny Harris and Jamario Moon.

EL SEGUNDO – The Los Angeles D-Fenders have acquired guard Terrence Williams, by way of a successful waiver claim, it was announced today by General Manger Nick Mazzella.

Williams (6’6” / 220) was selected in the first round (11th selection) by the New Jersey Nets in the 2009 NBA Draft. The Seattle native holds career averages of 7.1 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 153 career NBA games with the Nets, Houston Rockets, Sacramento Kings and Boston Celtics. Williams has also appeared in three NBA D-League games posting averages of 28.0 points, 11.3 rebounds and 10.7 assists for the Springfield Armor. The Louisville alumnus most recently spent time playing in Turkey for Turk Telekom Ankara and has also played internationally in China for the Guangdong Southern Tigers.

A four year member of the Louisville Cardinals, Williams tallied career averages of 11.2 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.5 steals in 140 games. Williams helped lead the Cardinals to three-straight NCAA Tournament appearances (2007-09), including Elite Eight appearances in 2008 and 2009. He was named to the 2009 AP All-America third team, 2009 All-Big East first team, 2007 and 2008 All-Big East second team and the 2007 and 2008 Big East All-Tournament team during his career.
