D-Fenders News: D-Fenders Complete Two-Game Sweep Of The Charge

On Saturday night, the Los Angeles D-Fenders defeated the Canton Charge 130-98 to complete a two-game sweep against the Ohio squad.

Despite beating the Charge by over 30 points, the D-Fenders struggled a little bit in the first quarter. Shooing just 30.8 percent from the field, they trailed by as much as eight points and went into the second quarter with a one-point deficit. During the second, Los Angeles really established their dominance and eventually went on a 16-4 run. They had a 12-point advantage going into halftime.

In the second half, the D-Fenders continued to control the game. They shot an impressive 71.4 percent from the field in the fourth and gained a 36-point lead at one point in the final quarter. Shawne Williams was the star of the game scoring an NBA D-League career high 34 points and seven rebounds. Top contributors also included James Southerland with 26 points and eight rebounds, C.J. Williams with 20 points, and Josiah Turner with 18 points.

This is the D-Fenders’s fifth win in a row, and the team looks to extend their win streak against the Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Tuesday, March 18.
