Dominique: The Guy Kobe Just Passed for No. 10

It takes an immense amount of awe-inspiring dunks, memorable plays and clutch performances to earn the nickname, “Human Highlight Film.” For former all-star and current Hall of Fame swingman Dominique Wilkins, his collection of highlight plays and rim rocking dunks did just that.

Drafted by the Atlanta Hawks out of the University of Georgia in 1981, Wilkins’ talents and skill quickly garnered him attention around the league, as he became a widespread fan-favorite – but more importantly, a great player.

While he was known for his unparalleled athleticism and “new school” style dunks, he was a tremendous scorer as well as he took home a scoring title in 1986 (just before Michael Jordan made the crown permanently his) and finished his career with a scoring average of 24.8 PPG. His 26,668 total career points were good for 10th all-time until another one of the game’s greats surpassed him last night.

When Kobe Bryant passed ‘Nique last night to take over the 10th spot on the all-time scoring list, he did more than jump over an incredible dunker; he surpassed one of the game’s greatest scorers and players.
