For many NBA fans watching coverage of the lockout is like pulling teeth but a welcome, if only temporary, respite is on the way. The rematch of the Drew League against the Goodman league is coming up at the end of the week and it will offer fans a chance to again see some of their favorite NBA players doing what they do best: play basketball.
The much anticipated game comes after the Goodman squad, led by Kevin Durant’s 44 points, edged the Drew team 134-133 August 20th in Washington D.C. This time around, however, the home court advantage has shifted and the west side crew will be out for revenge. Organizers are even billing it as “The Big Payback”.

Durant is expected to be joined on the Goodman squad by Wizards point guard John Wall, former no. 2 overall pick Michael Beasley and World Basketball Championship gold-medalist Rudy Gay, among others. Meanwhile the Drew team will feature DeMar DeRozan, James Harden, Ryan Hollins, and Dorell Wright, along with Wizards guard Nick Young. While the Drew league has also reached out to Kobe Bryant to see if he’d like to participate we’re not holding our breath.
The game will be played at the Walter Pyramid on the campus of Long Beach St. University. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9, with doors opening at the arena at 4 p.m. and a 5 p.m. celebrity game preceding the main event. For ticket information head over to the Drew League website.
