When the Los Angeles Lakers drafted Brandon Ingram second overall this summer, many believed that the Lakers had gotten the best player in the draft. With his height, length, and skill set, along with the fact that he is still only 18-years-old, Ingram has an extremely high ceiling.

Because of his thin frame, there is some concern that Ingram will be pushed around, but most believe that won’t last long, and once Ingram develops physically, he will be nearly unstoppable.

Apparently that is the belief among Ingram’s fellow rookies as he was voted as the player most likely to have the best career by his draft class in the annual NBA Rookie Survey:

The talent Ingram possesses is undeniable. His offensive ability is outstanding as he is an excellent shooter and is capable of putting the ball on the floor as well. He is also has a ton of defensive potential because of his length and athleticism.

This was on display in Las Vegas during Summer League. Ingram struggled some during the Lakers’ five games but always made an impact even when his shot wasn’t falling. His best game undoubtedly was his final one when he scored 22 points and added five rebounds and four assists against the Utah Jazz.

Ingram is in a good position with the Lakers as the pressure will not be on him to be a star immediately. Veteran Luol Deng will likely be the starter at small forward which will allow Ingram to come off the bench and slowly be eased into things. Additionally, players like D’Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson, and Julius Randle will take on most of the scoring burden.

The Lakers and fans alike are all hoping that Ingram will eventually fulfill his potential and become a superstar. Clearly, his fellow draft mates believe that will come to fruition, and the Lakers can only hope that comes true.
