Forbes Names Kobe Bryant World’s Third Highest Paid Athlete

KobeDenverRemember when Sports Illustrated said Kobe Bryant was the world’s fourth highest paid athlete? Well, according to Forbes he’s actually third. And, according to Forbes, he’s the highest paid NBA player, something that Sports Illustrated didn’t say.

The initial SI rankings were as follows:

1. Floyd Mayweather
2. LeBron James
3. Drew Brees
4. Kobe Bryant

The updated list on Forbes looks like this:

1. Tiger Woods
2. Roger Federer
3. Kobe Bryant
4. LeBron James

Kobe made a total of $61.9 million, while LeBron finished just below him at $59.8. The next NBA player on the list is all the way down at 17th and is Oklahoma City’s Kevin Durant, who made $30.9 million – half of what Kobe raked in.

I guess even though these numbers are a little different in comparison depending on the source (SI and Forbes), I don’t think either Kobe or LeBron are hurting for money, as their main focus is on winning titles.
