After having a breakout season with the Los Angeles Lakers a few years ago, forward Earl Clark made a name for himself in the NBA and secured a two-year deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers as a result.

Unfortunately for Clark, his stint in Cleveland didn’t last long with the team trading him to the Philadelphia 76ers in February of 2013 for center Spencer Hawes and was quickly waived shortly thereafter.

Although Clark’s NBA future has been in question since being waived by the 76ers, the veteran forward will have another shot to earn a spot on a roster after agreeing to a training camp deal with the Memphis Grizzlies, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports:

With the Lakers having a need at the small forward position it is a little surprising the team didn’t reach out to him at some point during the summer. Clark played well in his short time in Los Angeles and would’ve been welcome addition to a team filled with players trying to prove they can play at a high level in this league.

All signs point to head coach Byron Scott starting Wesley Johnson at the three spot to start the season. Free agent Michael Beasley has gotten some consideration from the Lakers with the journeyman working out for the team twice over the last month or so, but no deal appears to be imminent.

The Lakers will get their season underway at the Staples Center on Oct. 28 against the rival Houston Rockets.
