Former Laker Javaris Crittenton Charged With Murder in Atlanta

Former Los Angeles Lakers draft pick Javaris Crittenton has been charged with murder according to police in Atlanta, Georgia.

Crittenton, who was selected with the 19th overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft by the Lakers, most recently played for the Washington Wizards where he was involved in a notable altercation with then-teammate Gilbert Arenas.

Alexis Stevens of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports:

“Javaris Crittenton faces a homicide charge in the death Jullian Jones, according to Carlos Campos, APD spokesman. Jones was walking with others near 2915 Macon Drive in southwest Atlanta around 10 p.m. Aug. 19 when she was shot, Campos said. Jones, a mother of three, was struck in the hip and later died during surgery. Two men walking with Jones fled and were not injured.”*

Police spokesman Carlos Campos says police have secured a murder warrant for the arrest of Crittenton in connection with the shooting death of 22-year-old Jullian Jones on Aug. 19.

Campos went on to say that Crittenton is not in custody and is wanted.
