Former Laker Morrison, Serbian Team Discussing Contract

According to Marc Stein of ESPN former Los Angeles Lakers forward Adam Morrison is having contract discussions with a Serbian club team known as Crvena Zvezda.

Morrison, who is best known for his college days at Gonzaga, was arguably the best college basketball player in the country before being selected with the third overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Bobcats. Morrison came to Los Angeles in the middle of the 2008-09 season after being involved in a trade that also sent Shannon Brown from Charlotte to L.A.

Mark Bartelstein, Morrison’s agent, confirmed on Friday that there have been conversations between Crvena Zvezda and Morrison. Bartelstein claims there is interest ‘on both sides,’ but numerous reports from European media outlets have declared the deal is all but done.

While Morrison didn’t see much time on the court during his stint in Los Angeles, he did obtain two NBA championships with the Lakers in 2009 and 2010. Unfortunately, Morrison has been unable to contribute on a consistent basis since suffering a serious knee injury before the 2007-08 season. The injury was sustained, ironically, against the Lakers.
