Former NBA player and member of the Los Angeles Lakers, Orlando Woolridge, has passed away at the age of 52. Woolridge was with the Lakers from 1988-90. He was suffering from a severe heart condition.
Woolridge played in 136 games over two seasons with the Lakers, averaging 11.1 points and 3.3 rebounds in 21.4 minutes. Following his NBA career, Woolridge spent time playing professionally in Italy.
Originally selected by the Chicago Bulls, Woolridge was a second team All-American at Notre Dame. In college, Woolridge helped the Fighting Irish reach the NCAA tournament in each of his four seasons.
Woolridge was born on December 16, 1959, and is survived by his three children, Zachary, Renaldo and Tiana; by his parents, Mattie and Larnceen; his sister, Dr. Vanessa Woolridge Duplessis; his brother-in-law, Darren Duplessis; and his nephew, Nigel Duplessis.
