Former Los Angeles Lakers point guard Derek Fisher was involved in an incident last month on June 5, as he crashed his car on the 101 Freeway causing it to flip.

During the investigation, police officers discovered that Fisher had been drinking, resulting in him being arrested on suspicion of a DUI.

According to ESPN.com, a month later Fisher has been formally charged with the DUI:

Derek Fisher was formally charged with two counts of driving under the influence this week stemming from an incident last month in which he flipped his vehicle on a California highway.

Fisher was arraigned on the charges of operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 or higher on Wednesday, according to Los Angeles County online court records.

Fisher had two different stints with the Lakers, beginning his career with them in 1996 until 2004, and then coming back from 2007-12. He won five championships as a member of the Lakers, knocking down countless big shots in the postseason.

Gloria Govan, Fisher’s girlfriend, was in the car when the crash happened, but neither of them were injured. Govan is the ex-wife of another former Laker, current Golden State Warriors forward Matt Barnes.
