Former Lakers Guard Jamaal Wilkes Named to Hall of Fame

Legendary Lakers shooting guard Jamaal Wilkes became the latest member of the Lakers family selected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2012.

Wilkes, who attended college at UCLA, was the 11th overall pick in the 1974 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors. He helped lead Golden State to their only championship in 1975.

Wilkes played for the Lakers from 1977–1985, winning three championships with the team (1980, 1982, 1985) as a member of their famous Showtime squad.

One of Wilkes’ most famous games came during Game 6 of the 1980 NBA Finals, when he scored 37 points and grabbed 10 rebounds against the Philadelphia 76ers.
