The Los Angeles D-Fenders honored Dr. Jerry Buss in the best way they knew how by playing aggressive basketball in their 150-124 win against the Texas Legends. The 150  points scored would be a season high for the team. The D-Fenders squad, playing with the newest addition of former Laker Shawne Williams, would complete a three game win streak with this win against Texas. The games leading scorer was C.J. Williams with 36 points, and recently named D-League Performer of the Week Terrence Williams would be the second highest scorer with 27.

First Quarter

The D-Fenders had a strong first quarter, maintaining a comfortable lead and forcing seven turnovers. Terrence Williams showed a strong offensive performance showing shooting success from everywhere on the court. Starting with 10 points within the first four minutes of the game, he would finish with 13 points at the end of the first quarter. Equally impressive this quarter was CJ Williams, going six for seven and closing out the first 12 minutes with 15 points. The Texas Legends would struggle early on trailing the D-Fenders 27-36.

Second Quarter

Los Angeles would expand on their lead throughout the second quarter as they continued to hold the Legends with their strong defense. Former Laker Devin Ebanks would show a glimmer of hope for the Legends as he was their leading scorer during the first half with 19 points, but it was not enough to stop the offensive momentum from James Southerland and the D-Fenders. Josh Magette contributed with seven assists at halftime. Los Angeles had an eight point lead going into the half.

Third Quarter

Both teams would open up the second half with more fire than the previous half. At one point, the Legends had decreased their deficit to three points, but this did not last for long despite Texas’ energy coming out of the locker room. The D-Fenders’ defense continued to put pressure on the Legends and remained aggressive offensively with C.J. Williams closing out the third with 29 points. Shawne Williams would make his first jumper for the D-Fenders going into the final quarter as well helping his team hold the Legends 84-105.

Fourth Quarter

The D-Fenders remained dominate throughout the final quarter sustaining a lead as high as 31 points. As the Legends defense began to crumble, Los Angeles capitalized on all offensive opportunities as they aggressively drove towards the basket and shot threes consistently. C.J. Williams established a new career-high of 36 points and Terrence Williams chipped in 27 points as the D-Fenders defeated the Legends, 150-124.
