On behalf of Lakers Nation we would like to wish a heartfelt happy birthday to former Lakers forward Robert Horry.

Horry, or Big Shot Rob as he’s known around the league, played with the Lakers from 1997-2003 and was part of three championships.

In fact, championships were a very common theme in Horry’s career. After winning his first two with the Houston Rockets in the mid-90s, Horry won three more with Los Angeles, then two with the San Antonio Spurs.

The most memorable Robert Horry moment for Lakers fans is without a doubt his game-winning shot in Game 4 of the 2002 Western Conference Finals against the Sacramento Kings. With Los Angeles down two points and time running out, Horry grabbed an errant ball and put it through the net as time expired to give the Lakers the win and tie the series at 2-2.

It’s been a hard year for Horry, as earlier in 2011 he lost his daughter, Ashlyn. Horry started a foundation in his daughter’s name, and we encourage all who are able to donate what they can.

However, as Big Shot Rob turns 41 this is a time for celebration. Earlier this summer we posted a tribute to Horry, and showcased the top five moments in Horry’s career as a member of the Lakers. Included in the showcase are numerous buzzer-beaters that became defining moments in Horry’s career in Los Angeles.
