Howard Says He Wasn’t Cast For Superman Role Because Of Hurt Shoulder

photoFor much of this season, Dwight Howard has been either recovering from his hurt back or playing with a hurt shoulder. While him playing through the pain is admirable, him constantly complaining about it isn’t.

Yesterday during his first media session, he complained about playing through the pain. He told reporters that coming back was a blessing in disguise and that not a lot of people can do what he’s doing.

Today, Howard spoke to the media again and made another quip about his shoulder. He was handed an Oscar and was asked a series of questions — one of which was why he wasn’t cast as the role of Superman for the upcoming film. Here was his response:

“I wasn’t cast as Superman because I have a torn shoulder, and Superman can’t be hurt.”

Whether or not there was a double-meaning to that statement remains to be interpreted, but those words won’t be taken kindly by those back in Los Angeles. Howard is seemingly finding new ways to complain about things outside of his control instead of just playing hard and changing what he can on the floor.

If Howard is going to be loved in Los Angeles like he wants to be, he’s going to have to cut out the snide remarks about his injuries and anything else Lakers related and just play hard.
