Last night on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live there was a special guest with a very special topic of conversation. Los Angeles Lakers’ legend Magic Johnson was Jimmy’s guest, and he spoke to the late night host about bringing the National Football League back to Los Angeles.
Johnson, who just recently sold his share in the Los Angeles Lakers and Starbucks, announced that he was teaming up with Tim Leiweke and AEG to bring a professional football franchise back to the City of Angels. The city, which hasn’t had a NFL franchise since the Raiders and Rams left in 1994, is the biggest market in the country that doesn’t have a professional football franchise.
With a potential NFL lock-out looming the financial state of the league is certainly up in the air. Multiple teams are reporting financial instability and an increasing low demand in their markets. Johnson and his new partners will look to bring one of those teams to Los Angeles.
