Jeanie Buss, Magic Johnson Among Los Angeles 2024 Olympic Board Of Directors Nominees
It’s Time For The Los Angeles Lakers Front Office To Be A Little Boring

With the St. Louis Rams moving to Los Angeles and building a new state-of-the-art stadium in Inglewood, the city of Los Angeles is looking to become the sports capital of the world.

Adding a brand new football stadium to a city that already has all the necessary facilities was perhaps the last step in returning the Olympics to the city of Los Angeles.

In August 2015 Los Angeles was chosen by the United States Olympic Committee after The Los Angeles City Council voted unanimously to back the bid. It is now down to just L.A. and Paris to host the 2024 games.

Entertainment and sports agent executive Casey Wasserman, chairman of LA2024, has put together a group to help make it happen, and both Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeanie Buss and president of basketball operations and former Lakers great Magic Johnson are on the list, via Tim Daniels of Bleacher Report:

NBA legend Magic Johnson, Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeanie Buss and rapper Andre “Dr. Dre” Young headlined a 117-member group of selections and nominees for the LA 2024 Board of Directors announced by the Los Angeles’ Olympic bid organization Thursday.

Wasserman believes that he has assembled the right people to bring the Olympics back to Los Angeles for the first time since 1984:

The world is changing, and so are the needs of the Olympic and Paralympic Movements. This calls for new thinking, and that is precisely what the diverse group of 117 leaders and innovators on LA 2024’s Board of Directors brings to LA’s bid for the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

In addition to Buss, Johnson and Young, Los Angeles Dodgers president and CEO Stan Kasten, Rams COO Kevin Demoff, Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer, San Francisco Giants president Larry Baer and Walt Disney Company chairman Bob Iger are all also on the list.

The International Olympic Committee will elect and announce the host city for the 2024 Summer Games during a session in Lima, Peru, on Wednesday, Sept. 13.
