The Los Angeles Lakers have made a number of changes this off-season, but one of the biggest moves was acquiring point guard Jeremy Lin from the Houston Rockets.

The point guard position was one of the weak points for the Lakers last year, thanks to injuries ravaging the likes of Steve Nash and Steve Blake.

Lin could provide an upgrade at the position and in an interview with Basketball Insiders’ Alex Kennedy, Lin revealed that he doesn’t believe he is close to his prime:

I definitely don’t think I’m close to my prime yet […] I think because of the way things have happened, people always think I’m older […] I guess people have been very quick to write me off just because they saw how it started and then they saw what I was like in Houston, but I have to just keep reminding myself it’s a marathon.

While it seems like Lin has been around for a long time, he is right in that he is still a very young player with a lot to learn. Lucky for him, he has two of the best ever to play in Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash to learn from.

Lin has said that he feels very little pressure now that he is in Los Angeles, but he and the rest of the Lakers are trying to surprise the rest of the NBA this season.

If the Lakers plan on making a surprise run to the playoffs this year, the play of Lin will be key to that.
