When Jeremy Lin went down earlier in the preseason, it allowed Ronnie Price to step into the starting lineup, where Price took advantage of his opportunity with some very solid play. When Lin returned, he came off the bench and had excellent chemistry with some of the second unit, leading many to wonder who would start when the regular season finally began.

Unfortunately, injuries once again helped to decide some things as Price was hurt in the Lakers last preseason game, making it a little easier for Byron Scott to name Jeremy Lin as the opening night starter at point guard via the Lakers official Twitter page:
With Price dinged up, Byron says that @JLin7 will start at the point Tuesday night against Houston.

On the plus side for the Lakers, the injury news for Ronnie Price was good as the Lakers announced he suffered only a bone bruise and will likely play on Tuesday:
Injury Update: Wayne Ellington is out for Tuesday with the concussion. Ronnie Price is probable w/ a bone bruise. Ryan Kelly is out Tuesday.

Lin starting now gives this opening night game another interesting storyline. Dwight Howard coming back to Staples Center is always one to get the headlines, but Jeremy Lin playing against his former team will also be worth watching.
This preseason was an impressive one for Lin who showed that he can get to the basket regularly, and create shots for his teammates. With Nash gone and Price banged up, Lin could be in line for plenty of minutes on Tuesday.
