Jim Buss Said Howard Was Not Willing To Play With Kobe Bryant

DwightIt felt like such a long time ago since Dwight Howard was a Los Angeles Laker and fans were anticipating another championship banner. However, the big man is now in Houston and the team has low expectations heading into the 2013-14 season.

Jim Buss plans to develop this team starting this season with a rebuilding process. The Lakers are hoping to capitalize on the free agency class of 2014 and get the franchise back on the winning side.

Howard never felt like a good fit with the Laker and RealGM writes that Buss said Howard was not willing to play with Kobe for 2-3 more seasons

“Dwight didn’t want to play with Kobe for 2-3 more years,” Buss said. “I’m going to stand behind Kobe because of his history with the franchise.”

The Lakers did make some nice additions to the roster over the off season with players like Chris Kaman, Nick Young and Jordan Farmar joining the team. Nevertheless, the health of Kobe Bryant will be an important factor in how far this roster can go and if they can make a push for the post season.
