The Los Angeles Lakers are a perennial NBA power, but they are struggling mightily this season. However, in college basketball, perennial power Kentucky has been dominant this season, finishing out their regular season at 31-0 on Saturday.

With March Madness coming up soon, Kentucky head coach John Calipari was asked how he thinks his bracket will look once they are announced. According to Nicole Auerbach of USA Today, Calipari joked that it would include the Lakers:

Calipari was obviously joking as the Lakers have been one of the worst teams in the league this season. The job that Calipari has done with this Wildcats team has shown how good of a coach he is. The Lakers did reach out to him this off-season when their head coaching vacancy was available, but he chose to stay in Lexington and based on how this season has gone for each team, it’s hard to question his decision.

No college team, regardless of how good they are, would be able to come up and beat an NBA team, but Lakers fans may want to keep an eye on the Wildcats as one of their players could wind up becoming a Laker. Karl-Anthony Towns is an expected top-4 pick while Willey Cauley-Stein, Devin Booker and Trey Lyles are all expected first-rounders should they decide to enter the draft this season.
