The Los Angeles Lakers have made a few big additions this season, but arguably none are more important than rookie point guard Lonzo Ball. The second overall pick looks like a once-in-a-generation level passer who will elevate his teammates. One who stands to gain a lot from Ball’s addition is fourth0year guard Jordan Clarkson.

Even though he is likely to return to his role as sixth man for these Lakers, Clarkson has continued to work hard to improve his game this summer. With his speed and slashing ability, he should find himself getting more easy buckets than ever before.

Clarkson understands that as well, as he told Mark Medina of the Southern California News Group that having a passer like Ball makes the game easier for everyone:

“It makes the game a lot easier,” Clarkson said. “Guys are going to throw it out there. When you’re running the lane, you’re going to get it up there and advance the ball. That helps you play faster. It’s good to know you have a pass-first point guard who will make the right plays.”

Fans were already able to see the impact Ball’s style of play can have on a team with his Summer League performance. Ball was awarded MVP of Summer League and recorded two triple-doubles. His passing became contagious as all of his teammates began making the extra pass in an evironment where most players are looking to pad their own stats in order to get a contract somewhere.

Clarkson had another great year for the Lakers last season, averaging 14.7 points and 3.0 rebounds while shooting 44.5 percent from the field. If Ball can have the impact everyone hopes for, Clarkson will undoubtedly see his numbers rise, and his playoff prediction may just come true.
