Lakers point guard Jordan Farmar hasn’t played since the team’s first pre-season game, and has been out with a strained calf.

Farmar sat down with reporter Mark Trudell of Lakers.com and talked about how he’s feeling and the recovery process for his calf.

“It’s feeling better every day. I’m just really trying to be careful and not have it linger into the season and it be something that I’m dealing with for a long time. I’m just trying to make sure it’s gone before I’m out there and go full steam ahead.

“It’s pretty frustrating at times to not be able to go out there and build on the momentum that we’re building as a team, but I’m trying to be smart about it and be professional and get through it the best way I can.”

Along with Farmar, Steve Nash is dealing with an ankle injury while Kobe Bryant is still recovering from his ruptured Achilles. While there are many players fighting for a spot on the team during this trip to China, it’s essential for those who already have roles to come back as healthy as possible.

After this week, the Lakers will only have two more tune up games until they take the floor on Opening Night against a very good Clippers team. Farmar is one of the guys who is going to be huge for the Lakers off the bench.
