During a recent interview on ESPN’s SportsCenter, Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar mentioned current Laker center Andrew Bynum.

Bynum, 24, has been at the center of some controversy this season. He’s been benched by Mike Brown, fined by the team, and walked away from post-game interviews.

When asked about Bynum, Abdul-Jabbar was very frank.

“I think Andrew is doing very well on the court. He just needs to try and calm down his ego a little bit.”

Abdul-Jabbar went on to say that this is simply his observation from afar, and that he hasn’t had any personal contact with Bynum as of late.

The young Laker big man should take these words to heart, as Abdul-Jabbar is one of the most decorated athletes in the history of sports. Bynum, who once famously dismissed Kareem’s tutelage in favor of his own practice techniques, has all the makings of a star player, but does still seem to need a little work in the maturity region.
