Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Announces Dodgers Lineup For Game 2 Of NLDS

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Yasiel Puig

As two of the premier franchises in Los Angeles, the Lakers and Dodgers have a long history of participating in the playoffs. Yasiel Puig attended several Laker games last season, and current and former Lakers have been on hand to throw out the first pitch at Dodger Stadium this year.

Prior to Saturday’s Game 2 of the National League Division Series, former Laker Kareem Abdul-Jabbar announced the Dodgers’ starting lineup. Abdul-Jabbar, a Brooklyn native, wore a Jackie Robinson jersey and Brooklyn Dodgers hat.

True to his reserved personality, the Hall of Famer bypassed using any nicknames or jokes other celebrities have used in their announcing of the lineup this season. However, before stepping off the field, Abdul-Jabbar yelled out the famed phrase, “It’s time for Dodger baseball” and pumped his fist.

Zack Greinke threw seven innings for the Dodgers, who needed a Matt Kemp home run in the eighth inning to win Game 2 and tie the best-of-five series.
