With the showdown against the two-time defending NBA champion Miami Heat drawing near, Nike has unveiled the signature shoes Kobe Bryant and LeBron James will be sporting when they go head-to-head on the main stage at the Staples Center on Christmas Day.

Along with Bryant and James, Kevin Durant will also be wearing a Christmas edition of his signature shoe, KD VI. Although Durant’s signature shoe is starting to get more and more popular, Bryant and James are the leaders of the pack in the NBA in terms of anticipation of major shoe releases like the one that will take place on Dec. 25.

The release of the new colorway for the Kobe 8 on Christmas Day is in preparation for the Kobe 9 Elite, set to be released in February according to Nike via Pro Basketball Talk:

“Ready to strike at any moment, the KOBE 8 SYSTEM sheds its skin to prepare for the coming of the KOBE 9 Elite in February 2014. The essence of the shedding skin is exemplified in a bold modern interpretation of aggressive snake scales attached to a translucent mesh shroud. Hits of neon mamba green and chrome gold bring in the holiday season.”

The Christmas Day colorway of the Kobe 8’s will be available at retailers on Dec. 26 as well as the LeBron 11 and KD VI.

In order to catch Bryant in action wearing the new colorway of the Kobe 8 and James sporting the new LeBron 11 colorway make sure to tune in to ABC on Christmas Day at 2 p.m. Pacific for the matchup between the Lakers and Heat.
