160205054The NBA has released their first batch of returns on the fan vote for the All-Star game and Kobe Bryant is second among the Western Conference in total votes and first among back court players. The following is the early tally:

Western Conference Backcourt Votes
1. Kobe Bryant – 501,215
2. Chris Paul – 393,313
3. Stephen Curry – 327,449
4. Jeremy Lin – 240,404
5. James Harden – 198,667

Western Conference Frontcourt Votes
1. Kevin Durant – 607,407
2. Dwight Howard – 295,120
3. Blake Griffin – 292,925
4. Kevin Love – 275,506
5. Tim Duncan – 217,271

Eastern Conference Backcourt Votes
1. Dwyane Wade – 396,279
2. Kyrie Irving – 365,712
3. Derrick Rose – 272,410
4. John Wall – 124,851
5. Ray Allen – 99,464

Eastern Conference Frontcourt Votes
1. LeBron James – 609,336
2. Paul George – 489,335
3. Carmelo Anthony – 424,211
4. Roy Hibbert – 208,369
5. Chris Bosh – 156,364

As no surprise to anyone, LeBron James is leading in total votes for the All Star game with Kevin Durant second among vote getters. Bryant is a surprise to some as he’s only played in two games. Bryant has been able to tally votes despite being injured as his name has been on the ballot since voting first opened. There likely won’t be much shifting among the top vote getters, but it looks like there could be an outside chance for either Steph Curry to catch Chris Paul or Kevin Love to catch Blake Griffin to earn starting spots in the Western Conference.

Pau Gasol is seventh among Western Conference frontcourt players while Steve Nash is ninth among backcourt players.
