Kobe has spoken about his game evolving as he gets older and in an interview with Sports Illustrated’s Chris Ballard, there was one player in particular he was studying:

Bryant told friends that the player he is analyzing, as an example of adjusting your game as you get older, is fellow 36-year-old Paul Pierce. This is part of his goal to become “more efficient” on the court.

Pierce is an excellent example of a player who modified his game to become more efficient as he got older. Bryant is focused on getting the most out of his body these last two years, much like Pierce is:

I’m going to max [my last two years] out too, to do whatever I can. Leave no stone unturned, no water left in the sponge.

There should be no doubt that Bryant is going to give everything he has in these final seasons with the Lakers. In his mind, he is always competing for a championship and he will do anything possible to make that happen.

Bryant is pretty adamant that these two seasons will be his last. He will be sure to leave everything on the court in these final seasons.
