Kobe Bryant Having Trouble Adjusting to New System

Kobe Bryant has amassed five NBA Championship rings so far in his career and although all five of those teams were different in some way, one thing remained constant, the Triangle Offense. Bryant worked well in the Triangle Offense with Phil Jackson and it helped both individuals rack up championships.

However, with a new coach, comes a new offensive mentality. Roto World reports that Bryant is having a tough time leaving the Triangle and learning Mike Brown’s offense. Brown’s new offensive scheme does not involve the ideas of the Triangle and instead relies on more pick-and-roll plays. LeBron James dominated the ball under Mike Brown, and Bryant is now doing the same.

Kobe is expected to play a bigger role on this team’s offense, which includes passing and shooting the ball more. Bryant has already averaged 21 field goal attempts this season, one more attempt than the 2010-11 season.

If the Lakers want to reach the top of the basketball world again, Kobe needs to be fully accustomed to this new offense. However, based on Bryant’s work ethic, expect to see him grasp the system soon.
