Kobe Bryant Named NBA 2K17 Legend Edition Cover Athlete

On the day of Kobe Bryant’s final game in his 20-year NBA career, the NBA 2K franchise has once again named him as its cover athlete. The video game powerhouse has announced that Bryant will be on the cover of it NBA 2K17 Legend Edition, which will be released later this year.

In a press release on Wednesday morning, Take-Two Interactive gave basketball fans yet another way to celebrate Bryant’s illustrious career. Bryant was on the cover of NBA 2K10, but this latest appearance will be much more memorable.

“It’s a great honor to partner with 2K on the NBA 2K17 Legend Edition,” said Kobe Bryant, whose retirement tonight marks a storied 20-year career. “As I walk off the NBA court for the final time, it’s exciting to know my fans can continue to celebrate my lifelong career as a Los Angeles Laker.”

3047800-nbaAlong with the Bryant cover, 2K will offer fans both Kobe-themed memorabilia as well as in game content. Those that pre-order the game will be rewarded with a Bryant poster, trading cards as well as many other items.

The standard NBA 2K17 cover athlete will be announced at a later date, but Lakers fans can guarantee a copy of the Legends Edition by pre-ordering at participating North American retail and online vendors.

The NBA 2K17 Legends Edition will be available on Playstation 4 and Xbox One in September for $79.99. The standard version of the season’s video game will be on PlayStation 4, PlayStation3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Windows PC for $59.99.
