One of the big questions facing the Lakers this season is how the new players will gel with the guys who have been on the team for multiple seasons. With the addition of Steve Nash and Dwight Howard, some have wondered if there’s enough food to feed the entire family.
When asked about how he thinks Nash and Howard will fit with the rest of the squad, Kobe Bryant said he isn’t concerned at all about the pundits who say there might be some trouble establishing chemistry on the court.
“I’m not worried about it. It’s kind of a no-brainer, really. We all do different things. The pieces just fit naturally. I love to shoot, Steve loves to pass. Dwight loves to dominate the boards and dominate the paint. Pau loves to facilitate from the elbows. The pieces just naturally fit. So I think there’s more enjoyment and more enthusiasm. We’re not worried about it.”
After seeing the new starting five working together on the court in practice on Thursday I have to say I agree with Bryant. The pieces all fit together seamlessly on the court, and they already seem to be working together to establish that on-court comoraderie that is necessary to win a championship in the NBA.
While it was still only the second day of training camp, Bryant and the Lakers seem well on their way to finding a perfect blend on the court.
