The Los Angeles Lakers gave up a 16-point lead in their season-opener on Wednesday night, falling to the Minnesota Timberwolves, 112-111. The Lakers had a good look from Lou Williams at the buzzer, that would have sealed the game, but couldn’t knock it down.

“I told my coaches, I said with three minutes left in the third quarter, I don’t like the way this is going,” Byron Scott told the media post-game. “I thought we just stopped playing, on both ends of the floor. We started settling for jump shots, we stopped attacking, they kept attacking. We just seemed to be on our heels.”

The Lakers looked strong in the first half, especially their bench unit of Lou Williams and Nick Young, who finished with 21 and 14 points. Kobe Bryant, who officially entered his 20th season with the Lakers and set a new record for the most consecutive seasons played with one team, went 8-24, finishing with 24 points. Bryant also attempted 13 three-pointers (making three of them), which Scott addresses in the post-game videos below.

D’Angelo Russell discusses his debut and the adjustments that he knows he needs to make. Plus, Julius Randle talks about playing against Kevin Garnett, one of the best trash-talkers in the game.
