Back in the summer of 2012, the Los Angeles Lakers pulled off a surprising blockbuster trade to acquire Steve Nash from the division rival Phoenix Suns. The move came about a month before the team pulled the trigger on a four-team deal to bring in Dwight Howard.

Unfortunately, the trades for Nash and Dwight didn’t work in the team’s favor. Dwight left the team in free agency and Nash never played more than 65 games before missing the entire 2014-15 NBA season due to persistent nerve issues.

Kobe Bryant talked about his teammate set to miss the upcoming season and said the following, according to the Lakers Twitter account:

Before training camp got underway, Nash was receiving high praise from the media, coaching staff and his teammates for his form in scrimmages. Many believed that Nash might’ve been past his injury problems and ready to produce for the Lakers, but that didn’t turn out to be the case.

As a result of the team’s announcement that Nash will miss the entire 2014-15 NBA season, the future remains uncertain for the two-time NBA MVP. Nash had already let it be known that he intended his 19th season to be his last leading many to believe his career has come to an end.
