Kobe Bryant is currently in the midst of his 19th season in the NBA and already considered among the all-time greats to the play the game. Playing alongside some of the games best has elevated his game, but so has his ability to learn.

In an interview with Bleacher Report’s Kevin Ding, Bryant mentioned how he was able to learn from all those who came before him and his lack of fear approaching them for help:
“I’m not scared of anybody,” Bryant said. “It’s more curiosity and such a respect that I want to learn. I want to learn. I’m so curious to learn—still to this day. Just a constant learner. I’m not afraid to ask questions about things that I don’t know. I’m not afraid to admit what I don’t know. I’ll ask questions and try to learn as much as I can.”
Such a mentality has helped Bryant become the player he is today as well as accomplish all that he has in his 19 years. It became clear at an early age, he loved the game and was willing to do whatever it takes to improve and win.
Bryant considers himself to be a student of the game and has taken facets of many players to expand his game. He famously sought help from Hakeem Olajuwon to work on his post game and footwork which has led to many of today’s superstars to follow suit.
Just as he came into the league prodding All-Star brains to improve his game, Bryant has seen players learn from him. Both LeBron James and Kevin Durant have come out and said that seeing Bryant’s work ethic first hand has helped in their own developments.
With Bryant nearing the end of his career, he has taken a more proactive approach in mentoring younger players even taking teammates Jeremy Lin and Julius Randle under his wing.
