Kobe Reportedly Recieves Lucrative Contract Offer to Play in China

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports it appears as if Kobe Bryant might have found a home for next season.

After negotiations fell through with the Turkish team Besiktas, Bryant reportedly was leaning towards playing in China during the NBA lockout. In fact, it was even rumored that Nike might be encouraging Bryant to play there.

Now it appears as if the rumors are gaining a little more momentum, as a legitimate offer appears to be on the table. Wojnarowski, as well as multiple other sources, have confirmed that Bryant could receive more than $1.5 million per month to play in the country where he is extremely popular.

Those familiar with Bryant know that he visits China during the off-season every year, and is one of the most popular athletes in the country.

However, there were reports that Chinese teams weren’t looking to add NBA players that would jet back to the United States once the lockout ends. But this latest report surrounding Bryant and the amount of money they’re willing to spend would certainly negate that argument.

Bryant was a member of the 2008 United States Olympic squad that won the gold medal in Beijing.
