Lakers News: Metta World Peace Awaken By Cops At Home

Denver Nuggets v Los Angeles Lakers - Game SevenDue to NBA player’s hectic schedules, they do not get much sleep when traveling from city to city. All-Star weekend is the usual time when they will either vacation to relax or stay home to get adequate sleep. Metta World Peace had a rough ending to his All-Star break. As TMZ reported, he was awaken by the LAPD early Tuesday morning with disturbing news.

Metta World Peace was roused out of bed early this morning when police responded to a report of 4 armed men in the basketball star’s condo complex …

Law enforcement sources tell us LAPD got a call around midnight about 4 guys — 3 with handguns and one with a shotgun — lurking around the L.A. Laker‘s westside home.

The LAPD called for the suspects through a loud speaker, which prompted Wold Peace’s brother and cousin to investigate. After going outside the LAPD arrested them both until World Peace was awaken to confirm their identities. Neither men had identification on them.

Eventually the “armed suspects” came out and proved to cops they were residents of the complex — unrelated to Metta — who were returning home with BB guns used while recording a video.

We’re told the 4 men got off with a warning — presumably about carrying weapons in public — and possibly about unnecessarily alarming Lakers superstars.

World Peace was calm throughout the experience, and was very “understanding and professional” according to the story.
