The much-anticipated Lonzo Ball workout is now in the books with the Los Angeles Lakers brass finally getting a look at the player that everyone assumes the team will take with the No. 2 pick in the upcoming 2017 NBA Draft. Next up will be Josh Jackson out of Kansas on Thursday, but the real intrigue may begin once the team works out Kentucky’s De’Aaron Fox.

According to Mark Medina of the LA Daily News, the Lakers have officially scheduled a date to work out Fox next week:

The Lakers plan to host an individual workout for former Kentucky guard De’Aaron Fox on June 13, according to league sources familiar with the situation. After working out last week with the Sacramento Kings, Fox also plans to work out with the Philadelphia 76ers at some point the following weekend (June 16-18).

Although the consensus at this point is the Lakers will take Ball and won’t look back on June 22, Fox could make a strong case to be the team’s selection if he can prove his worth in an individual workout with the team next week.

Fox, who is expected to be taken within the first five picks of the draft, outplayed Ball in the NCAA Tournament recently scoring 39 points on the UCLA star in the Sweet 16. The Wildcats standout’s draft stock began to rise from that point on as many started to wonder whether he may be the better prospect in comparison to Ball.

Next week, Fox will have his opportunity to shine in front of the Lakers brass as he hopes to jumps a few spots in the upcoming draft potentially knocking Ball out of the running for No. 2 overall.
