The Lakers didn’t get off to the hottest start this season. They lost four of their first five games after not winning any preseason games and fired head coach Mike Brown. After Brown’s firing, many pundits assumed that the Lakers would bring back coaching legend Phil Jackson.
Jackson met with the organization and things seemed to be moving in the right direction. However, things turned in dramatic fashion and the Lakers ended up bringing in Mike D’Antoni despite Jackson endorsements from both Kobe Bryant and Phil Jackson.
With D’Antoni, things got worse before they got better with Howard expressing his displeasure in Los Angeles more than once this season. Now, according to a tweet from Dave McMenamin, Phil Jackson has been texting Dwight Howard.

Howard was excited about the prospect of playing in the triangle and getting more post up opportunities before D’Antoni was brought in. Howard may not ever be satisfied with D’Antoni coaching the team, but maybe Jackson could serve as an ambassador for the Lakers to help keep Howard in Los Angeles.
