Lakers Injury News: Xavier Henry To Be Reevaluated, May Miss Season

Xavier Henry

This morning on ESPN LA 710 Radio, head coach Mike D’Antoni spent some time answering questions about the Los Angeles Lakers season. While he was in a joking mood at practice yesterday, D’Antoni discussed numerous topics including an injury update on all of his players.

With the Lakers’ backcourt was depleted, D’Antoni hopes that Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash will return after the road trip against the Indiana Pacers on January 28. While Xavier Henry is set to get reevaluated on Monday, D’Antoni says he could either play on the road trip or be out for the rest of the season:

Against the Philadelphia 76ers on December 30, it appeared that Henry may have suffered a season-ending injury as there was no contact on the play. After an MRI, the Lakers guard was very fortunate as he only suffered a bone bruise in his right knee.

Henry was supposed to be evaluated yesterday, but no specific reason was given for it being pushed back. With the reevaluation now set for Monday, the Lakers can only hope that Henry won’t be out for the entire season. In his first real opportunity in the NBA, Henry has played extremely well. The four-year guard out of Kansas is averaging 10.1 points and was the Lakers’ backup point guard before he went down.
